Aww this one!

I asked if she thought I was gloomy. She said, "No, but I know you like chocolate and that's what it's good for."

Not mine but hilarious

Spent the night with a great friend. Her Kindergartener was working on putting his name on his snack bag and had to "charge" the pencil before it worked. While the rest of us call this "sharpen" can't help but love the way he thinks! These kids!

The perfect pairing

At dinner....
Dad: did you try those potatoes with cheese? The smoky flavor of the potatoes worked well with the cheese. The flavors really complemented each other.
Bro: Dad, cheese complements the flavor of almost everything.

So close

I have one of the smartest little toots around. Today he was helping move clothes to the dryer asking what setting. I said 4 o'clock. He didn't quite get it so texted me a pick of the dial (you know the one I don't know by heart from the 10,000 times I've used it) and clarified he didn't want to know what time but what setting. So I restated as 50 minutes and he was on his way... so I thought.

I came home to noticeably wet clothes in the dryer. Apparently my smart toot got the clothes moved, got the dryer sheet, set the dial to 4 o'clock (sorry 50 mins) but did not actually hit the start.

Love him!

Everyday

N and his bud have observed that their sisters cry at least once a day. For whatever insane reason they cry over something or nothing. He was threatening to start a daily note on the cause. That wouldn't be funny but it is.

Today it was she was eating and the fork bounced off her plate and hit her in the arm. And just to ensure we are not being callous I confirmed she was not actually hurt, which was not surprising considering she was wearing a sweatshirt. But still, crying. Brother is right. This may be funny.

Tough stuff

N was complaining through scooping ice cream making the comment: It's hard. It's physically and mentally hard.

Yeah we had to laugh which made hi indignant: no really. The ice cream is actually hard and it is sticky and has to be measured...

Her sport

Sis was spelling softball - S A L F B A L L because that's how she says it. Been playing all this time and never knew it was any other way.

Not ole just yet

On the way home from softball we passed a mom soccer game/league. I'm guessing ages from 20-55. I commented about the old lady soccer. Sis disagreed when I pointed out they were close to my age. "Mom those were not old ladies. You are not officially old until 50"

Ninjas

B: whose car is that?
Neighbor: Miss K
B: (without missing a beat) is she a ninja? I don't like ninjas.

Mighta been funnier that dad thought he was being racist bc he heard something other than ninja.

Warms my heart

Told sis when we spoke on the phone this morning that I was sending her all my hugs and kisses. She said, "And I'm gonna send them right back to you!"

One k shy of something not good

Sis always says "kk" instead of "ok". I hear it in her voice so it makes me smile whenever I get to use it. 😊

Good catch

Sis pointed out they spelled our name wrong on this:

Thrill a minute

I told the kids something exciting was happening (family friends were coming over). Bro's reaction: you really need to work on better defining what's exciting in terms of what we think.

Caught it

Just blew Sis a kiss across the room. She smiled and then reached out and grabbed it. Love that one!

How kids break news

"There isn't any blood or anything and no one's really hurt. The sliding door is just broken, well not exactly like broken like shattered or in a pieces, there's not glass or anything. It's just not where it should be. It kind of seems like a big deal but really no one is hurt and it may not be that hard to fix. Because it's just not right. It's not broke broke, like really broken, it's just not fixed any more. OK so that's it. I just didn't want you to freak out."

Wondering what happened: barn doors on master closet were off the track after a kid ran into them. Why are we playing in the master closet? Hide and go seek. Kid view: "there are some of the sweetest spots in the house in there." And "no one really goes in the mom and dad room. Our house is one of the only ones you can." Door is fixed. All good and no blood indeed.
